also set before you."

The Kwame Sarfo Sakyi Scholarship Fund
In the United States we talk about the cost of health care and the number of people who cannot afford to go to the
doctor. What if we all had health care coverage and no doctors to go to? In African nations such as Ghana, that is
often the case.
One reason is highly educated professionals such as doctors are leaving these struggling, developing countries. In more
stable countries doctors can make more money and have a better standard of living. This emigration of trained
professionals drains countries such as Ghana of the people it needs most in order to overcome economic and social
challenges. It leaves a vacuum in rural areas and makes the war diseases such as tuberculosis, malaria and HIV/AIDS
a truly up hill struggle. Ghana needs doctors who are well trained and determined to stay in their country to help in the
fight.
A young Ghanaian, Kwame Sarfo Sakyi (say chee), has a dream of becoming a pediatric doctor and returning to his
country to work and live. He hopes to establish an orphanage for HIV/AIDS orphans and abandoned children. This
dedicated Christian youth came to the United States as an exchange student. Raised a Presbyterian, while here, he
attended the Presbyterian Churches in McBain, Lake City and Cadillac Michigan. The congregations became aware
of his dreams and decided to do something to help him. The First Presbyterian Church of McBain, the First
Presbyterian Church of Lake City and the First Presbyterian Church of Cadillac, Michigan have established the
Kwame Sarfo Sakyi Scholarship Fund
In an effort to help in the health crisis in Ghana and to assist Kwame achieve the goal he believes God is calling him to,
this fund seeks to raise money to help cover the cost of premedical and medical school training. This long term
mission effort will send a loving Christian man back to his country to serve the people of Ghana and its children.
Contributions to the Kwame Sarfo Sakyi Scholarship Fund are used 100% for educational expenses for Kwame.
